Teresian Spirituality

Our spirituality is rooted in the teachings and example of our Holy Mother St. Teresa of Avila. Teresian spirituality is a practical, concrete path to union with God through prayer, humility, and love. It is not a spirituality for the elite, but for every soul who sincerely seeks God.

The Interior Castle

St. Teresa described the spiritual journey using the metaphor of an interior castle with seven mansions. The soul progresses from the outer chambers of vocal prayer and meditation, through the stages of the prayer of quiet, recollection, and ultimately to transforming union with God. This journey is one of growing intimacy with Christ, sustained by grace and our faithful response.

Dark Night of the Soul

St. John of the Cross, our co-founder, teaches us about the purifying process God uses to bring souls to union with Him. The "dark nights" — of the senses and of the spirit — are not punishments but gifts of grace, stripping away our attachments so that we may love God purely. We embrace these purifications with faith and trust.

The Little Way

St. Thérèse of Lisieux, our beloved sister and Doctor of the Church, shows us the "little way" of spiritual childhood. She teaches us that holiness is not about doing great things, but about doing ordinary things with great love. Her confidence in God's mercy and her promise to "spend her heaven doing good upon earth" inspires our daily offering.

Love alone gives worth to all things. What matters is not great deeds but great love.
— St. Thérèse of Lisieux

Marian Spirituality

We are daughters of Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The brown scapular is the sign of her motherly protection. We consecrate ourselves entirely to her, seeking to imitate her fiat, her silence, her contemplation, and her unwavering fidelity. Through Mary, we are drawn more deeply into the mystery of her Son.
